Freight agent FAQ
Who is a good fit for the Cargolane agent program?
Freight professionals with sales experience and shipper relationships — independent agents, brokers who want to drop the overhead of running their own authority, and experienced logistics reps ready to build their own book of business.
How does the 70% commission split work?
You keep 70% of the gross margin (customer rate minus carrier cost) on every load you book through Cargolane. Exact terms are set out in your agent agreement.
How often are agents paid?
Commissions are paid weekly.
Do I need my own authority, bond, or insurance?
No. You operate under Cargolane's FMCSA broker authority (MC 1815403), backed by our $75,000 broker bond and contingent cargo insurance.
What does it cost to join?
Nothing. TMS and load board access are provided at no cost, and our back-office team handles carrier onboarding, compliance, billing, collections, and claims.
How long does onboarding take?
We move quickly. Once your application is approved and your agent agreement is signed, our team gets you set up with a dedicated point of contact.
